- Broadcasters in Lithuania and Romania commission new prime time series of international hit variety format
- This follows a successful launch on Star TV in Turkey earlier this month
- You Face Sounds Familiar has now been sold to 8 territories since it launched in Spain in September 2011
- The format will be among Endemol’s highlights at Napte Budapest this week
Endemol, the world’s largest independent production company, today announced that it has closed new deals for Your Face Sounds Familiar in Central and Eastern Europe ahead of Napte Budapest.
Endemol has struck a two season deal with BTV in Lithuania for the comedy variety show, which will see the format launch in a prime time spot. Endemol has also sold a second season to Antena 1 in Romania following a successful first run on the channel earlier this year.
Your Face Sounds Familiar launched on Star TV in Turkey earlier this month and is outperforming the channel average. Produced by Endemol Turkey, the programme’s debut episode pulled in a share of 13.5% and ranked in the top 6 shows of the night.
Endemol’s CEO of Central and Eastern Europe Marina Williams comments; “Your Face Sounds Familiar is proving to be popular with broadcasters and viewers across CEE. The format’s music, comedy, celebrity and variety are the perfect ingredients for an entertainment hit in the region and it’s great to have it among our highlights for Napte Budapest.”
Novy Channel in Ukraine also snapped up a first series of Your Face Sounds Familiar from Endemol, in a deal announced just ahead of the format’s international debut at MIPTV in April.
Your Face Sounds Familiar was originally produced by Endemol Spain for Antena 3 and is a talent competition with a comedy twist. Celebrities take on a new identity as an iconic music performer and are awarded points for singing, style and believability. But the catch is they could find themselves transformed into someone far older, younger or even of the opposite sex.
